Cerakote is a protective finish, not a force field. Treat it as a working surface and it will age honestly.
Why coat stainless steel?
A ceramic-based coating changes both the appearance and surface behaviour of stainless steel. On Kuro, the semi-matte black finish reduces reflections and gives the case a restrained, tool-like character.
The coating adds protection from ordinary abrasion and corrosion. Sharp impacts can still mark any finished surface, especially at exposed edges. Honest wear is different from a defect.
Simple cleaning is enough
Wipe the case with a clean, soft cloth after wear. For dirt around the lugs or caseback, use a slightly damp cloth and dry the watch carefully. Avoid abrasive compounds, metal polishing cloths and aggressive solvents because they are designed to remove or alter surfaces.
Check that the crown is fully screwed down before the watch meets water. Water resistance is a property of the complete case and its seals, not of the coating.
Let the finish remain truthful
Do not polish a Cerakote case to restore shine. The semi-matte texture is deliberate. If the coating is damaged by a hard impact, contact the maker before attempting a repair.
